Some of Kentucky's finest rockers Black Stone Cherry will be releasing their new album, which I am currently listening to but might not be available to the rest of you until the end of September. So far, the third song is my jam on this album, "When the Pain Comes." Maybe I've felt a little of that since that stupid hurricane last year destroyed a lot of my surroundings, in more ways than one to say the least.

It's got that head knocking groove to it that just kind of takes you away for a minute. Isn't that what music is supposed to do? Transport you away for a moment, numb you away when the pain comes for example?

Track four hits a little harder. It's like the anger kicks in a little more once the pain comes. "Out of Pocket" is like when you feel that pain and start getting pissed off, as it's coming out of your pocket.

"The Mess You Made" - the title alone makes me cringe thinking of the messes I have made over the years. Kinda like when you sleep when someone you should not have. Maybe I just get a sexual aura from this album.

Reflections change and fade away. Those are those introspective moments on the album. It's hints that change is possible when we don't like what we see, leading to "Not Afraid."

It's that that higher energy that makes you want to start bouncing around a bit.

"What's Love" is where I can picture someone screaming at the sky in the beginning, then it mellows into a chill, before ramping back up, fooling you to what the song actually is, as it's hidden a little bit. It's not like the original, as the rocking guitars and pounding drums, compounded by the insistent screams, makes it sound like a totally different song. Then the words start, and you start singing along, realizing that you have heard this song before, and if you start thinking of broken hearts that you've had, it gets you pissed off to the point that you realize this always should've been a rock song.
"What's Love" es donde puedo imaginar a alguien gritando al cielo al principio, luego se suaviza en un escalofrío, antes de volver a subir, engañándote a lo que realmente es la canción, ya que está un poco oculta. "I Miss You" kind of wrenches on those heartstrings a bit more. Little more heartache to follow up the "What's Love," and it really does fit the theme. Normally, I'm not a huge fan of covers, but I like the originality and thematic way that it fits with the rest of the album in the spot chosen during the album.

They end the album by asking, "Have You Ever Been Lonely?" I think we all have at some point. It's a relatable album on that type of level, and isn't good music about sharing moments others relate to?

They say with art, music, and poetry, it's hard to find topics that are both classic and timeless. Being lonely is one of those things. No matter if you were born this decade or a couple thousand years ago, people have probably experienced loneliness at some point for as long as people have existed.

Overall, the album has their signature sound of rockin' beats. It touches on topics most people can relate to while having a groove that makes your body start moving before you even realize it. If you're a fan of their previous albums, then this one will not disappoint, so be sure to pick it up in September.
