First of all, they both have roller coasters, and both of them may shut down some of their smaller rides, shuffling employees to work instead at haunted houses and scare zones. For Cedar Point, this shift happens naturally around Labor Day, as the outdoor pools and Soak City closes for the cooler weather, and originally, Cedar Point used the displaced lifeguards to work their haunted attractions. At Busch Gardens in Tampa, Florida, the weather does not shift as much as in Sandusky, Ohio, and Adventure Island remains open, so it might not be as many lifeguards on duty as there are up in Ohio in the fall time of year.

When it comes to roller coasters, Cedar Point has held down multiple positions in the Guiness Book of World Records regarding the amount of roller coasters they have, as well as having some of the tallest and fastest of certain types of roller coasters. However, Busch Gardens has a few knock of versions of these types of roller coasters, such as their own version of the Raptor with a different name. Iron Gwazie at Busch Gardens does promote the tallest and fastest hybrid coaster, giving a little competition when it comes to the thrill seeking, and they also put unique spins on a few of their rides unexpectedly.

Specifically, Cedar Point has the Power Tower with it being the only four tower drop ride to date. You can either zip up really fast or drop down really fast, with both having a yo-yo type of effect. Busch Gardens put their own version of this with Falcon's Fury, kicking it up a notch by rotating riders to face the cement as they are dropped, making your paranoia hope the safety harness holds you securely.

I'm not going to do a ride-by-ride comparison right now, though I totally could. Instead, I will say that Busch Gardens tends to modify some other famous rides, putting their own take on rides that might involve going backwards unexpectedly or facing the ground before plummeting towards it. Thus, for all those spoiled by Cedar Point, thinking no rides will ever compare, Busch Gardens packs a lot into their smaller sized facility, trying to make the most out of each ride that they feature, making it worthwhile to experience for yourself and not just take somebody else's word on what they think.

So, both facilities have huge roller coasters that are worth checking out. During Halloweekends and Howl-O-Scream, both have haunted houses and scare zones. With Cedar Point starting their multi-million dollar haunted houses a couple years before Busch Gardens, that only gave Busch Gardens time to stalk the competition and find ways to make their own version unique for their facility.

While both have scare zones based on jump scares, which is really as good as the actors working that day, the scare zones almost cancel each other out. When Cedar Point first started Halloweekends, there were not as many regulations as there are now, as now it's fairly mainstream for actors to not touch guests, more like jump out and scare them. The scenes change from scare zone to scare zone in both facilities, offering up themed areas, with Cedar Point having more laser lights and fog machines, as opposed to a big scary windmill that can be found in Busch Gardens; both places are pretty cool.

When it comes to the haunted houses, both parks have different themes. Cedar Point started the trend and has continuously dumped money into their attractions each year, so they have more of the animated jump scares, such as blasting air that blows unexpectedly and the twisting tunnel that makes you feel as if you might blow over. I'd dare say they have more black light reactive effects as well, which is fun.

The actors will try to fit the storyline, asking if you are ready to go vampire hunting and whatnot, and they do bring in a bondage element that will make the kinky folks smile or think how that gimp suit would look good in their collection. It's a different kind of scare from the clowns at Cedar Point; that's for sure.

Since Florida is hot, it's rather unique that Busch Gardens would have a frozen haunted house. Seeing how they have ice skaters during their regular season, they have the capability to bring in the snow to the Sunshine State. With Ohio getting cold in the fall, Cedar Point does not have the need for the frozen house the way that Busch Gardens does; as when it's hot as heck in Florida, it's so nice to walk into a freezing house and lower that body temperature a bit, so it works for that location perfectly.

Both have shows, and that can depend on the entertainer performing at the moment, but both have various ways to entertain you. While Busch Gardens might not be as big or have the bigger mechanical scares, they make up for it with people.

Cedar Point is too classic to not recommend if you're into g-forces and scares, but Busch Gardens tries to keep up with their competition and outdo them when they can. Both put forth the effort to ring in the Halloween season with entertainment, so both should be on your Halloween hit list. If you're really into the scares, both have bigger multi-attraction haunted houses nearby them, with Cedar Point having the Lake Erie FearFest at Ghostly Manor nearby in Sandusky, and Busch Gardens being close to Screamageddon in Dade City; both of these are definitely worth checking out for more adult scares.
