One Texas-born Florida teenager is not afraid to be the voice for those who may be silent. Using her own trauma as motivation, her aim is to be the voice for others who may be experiencing trauma at a young age, unable to speak up for themselves. While fresh on the music scene, it’s nice to meet an artist with an altruistic purpose fueling her beats and lyrics.

When just a toddler, this young girl experienced sexual assault. Though she was so tiny, she had a barely audible voice to speak up, but she told others what was happening. As she grew older, she was horrified to learn how commonplace assault was, that it was happening to others as well.

Learning early on that not everyone is brave enough or able to speak up for a variety of reasons, this experience helped shape the basis for her musical career. Talking about shared experiences, bringing problems to light, helps them to be solved for the future. Her goal is to prevent this from happening to others, especially the ones that are too young to be able to speak up for themselves.

Originally born in Texarkana, located on the border of Texas and Arkansas, which is widely known for the “Town that Dreaded Sundown,” musician, producer, and stylist 3Zillah grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, before relocating to Florida. Influenced by her father being into music, he works with her to draft special touches to her music. When her mother was pregnant with her, her father would put headphones onto her pregnant mom‘s belly, and baby 3Zillah would react to the music - and she still reacts to some of the songs she responded to in the womb!

Always knowing music was her passion, she struggled to come up with a stage name, considering Queen Tut, Sxlareclipse, and the3rdv3rs3, before being commonly called “3,” which is short for 3Zillah. Summarizing her decision with, “there’s 3 sides to 3,” she explained her faith that there is the father, son, and Holy Spirit, and that she always had three cats growing up. Somberly, she added, “when I was three-years-old, life felt real and scary, so I wear this name as armor and a statement that everything in my life has shaped me to be who I am today.”

Being ready and willing, this artist is wise enough to know that not everyone makes it in music. Fortunately, her talents extend beyond the recording studio. Being multi-talented, this budding producer also has been building her fashion resume by perfecting her stylist skills as an alternative creative outlet.

Her background as a stylist also started at an early age, as she wanted to learn how to do her own hair. Realizing that she had an aptitude for styling, beauty, and fashion, her mother indulged in her daughter‘s interest, investing in a massive hair and makeup kit for her to learn from. This enabled her to experiment on her friends’ hair, learning along the way from trial and error, as well as watching videos and tutorials.

Though she has experimented with many hairstyle techniques, she recently expanded into more makeup techniques as well. Most recently, she did the hair and makeup for a modeling shoot. Assisting her friend signed with a modeling agency, 3Zillah was the main stylist for her video shoot, creating a before and after effect as part of the modeling portfolio to send to potential clients.
