During our visit to London Ontario, for the premiere of one of my music videos at Shock Stock horror convention, we discovered the Covent Garden Market. Since it was my birthday weekend, and I didn’t necessarily want a whole cake, we went in search of some French pastries, but we found so much more. Thinking this would be like a typical farmers market, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was heads and tails above the average farmers market, being a plethora of shops and vendors both inside and out of the two-story market that even had a theatre inside.
Durante nuestra visita a Londres, Ontario, para el estreno de uno de mis vídeos musicales en la convención de terror Shock Stock, descubrimos el Covent Garden Market. Como era mi fin de semana de cumpleaños, y no necesariamente quería un pastel entero, fuimos en busca de algunos pasteles franceses, pero encontramos mucho más. Pensando que esto sería como un típico mercado de agricultores, nos sorprendió gratamente descubrir que estaba por encima del mercado promedio de agricultores, siendo una plétora de tiendas y vendedores tanto dentro como fuera del mercado de dos pisos que incluso tenía un teatro dentro.
As we ventured early in the morning, my friend wanted some coffee. When we found the café, we were lured in by huge barrels of coffee and so many selections that it was overwhelming. The barista had a telling Mad Hatter Tattoo on her back, leading me to order some chai tea that was delectable.
Como nos aventuramos temprano en la mañana, mi amigo quería un poco de café. Cuando encontramos el café, nos atraeron enormes barriles de café y tantas selecciones que fue abrumador. La barista tenía un tatuaje de Sombrerero Loco en la espalda, lo que me llevó a pedir un poco de té chai que era delicioso.
I mentioned that it was the great French pastry hunt, and while we might not have actually ever found the original pastry place that let us to the market, we found every other pastry place and definitely found some great treats to indulge. From amazing chocolatiers, to breathtaking bakeries, and specialty shops for practically every nationality, they have the authentic stuff. There is shops with specialty crystals, creative, jewelry, and so many original things that it’s hard to pick a favorite that stood out, as there was so many things that I was ooohhhing and aaaahhhhhing over.
Mencioné que era la gran búsqueda de pastelería francesa, y aunque es posible que nunca hayamos encontrado el lugar de pastelería original que nos dejó ir al mercado, encontramos todos los demás lugares de pastelería y definitivamente encontramos algunas grandes delicias para disfrutar. Desde increíbles chocolateros hasta panaderías impresionantes y tiendas especializadas para prácticamente todas las nacionalidades, tienen lo auténtico. Hay tiendas con cristales especiales, creatividades, joyas y tantas cosas originales que es difícil elegir un favorito que se destacara, ya que había tantas cosas que yo estaba ooohhhing y aaaahhhhhwing.
The place I chose to indulge in for my birthday treat was called Happiness Inside. They had some souped up macaroons that were over the top, and amazing dipped cheesecakes on a stick, along with so many other things. It was hard to choose what I wanted, but I ultimately went with a chocolate dipped piece of cheesecake on a stick that had peanut butter and bananas.
El lugar en el que elegí para mi regalo de cumpleaños se llamaba Happiness Inside. Tenían algunos macarrones mejorados que estaban por encima, y increíbles pasteles de queso bañados en un palo, junto con muchas otras cosas. Fue difícil elegir lo que quería, pero al final fui con un trozo de pastel de queso bañado en chocolate en un palo que tenía mantequilla de maní y plátanos.
As we wandered around, it felt like we were constantly discovering things. Approaching the outside, we first thought it was a traditional outside farmer’s market with just some vendor booths, but then we went inside the market. Going from shop to shop inside, we meandered around for quite a while before we discovered that there was a second floor that had a theatre and more.
Mientras deambulábamos, parecía que estábamos constantemente descubriendo cosas. Al acercarnos al exterior, primero pensamos que era un mercado tradicional de agricultores al aire libre con solo unos pocos puestos de vendedores, pero luego entramos en el mercado. Yendo de una tienda a otra, dimos vueltas durante bastante tiempo antes de descubrir que había un segundo piso que tenía un teatro y más.
There are so many specialty shops inside and out, so many unique vendors, it’s really hard to list everything that we saw there. You can literally get lost for a few hours there pretty easily, but it’s not so huge that you literally can’t find your way out. There’s multiple entrances, and while we might have gotten turned around a couple times, it was a great exploration that is highly recommended for those traveling to London, Ontario.
Hay tantas tiendas especializadas por dentro y por fuera, tantos vendedores únicos, que es muy difícil enumerar todo lo que vimos allí. Literalmente puedes perderte durante unas horas allí con bastante facilidad, pero no es tan grande que literalmente no puedas encontrar la manera de salir. Hay varias entradas, y aunque es posible que nos hayan dado la vuelta un par de veces, fue una gran exploración que es muy recomendable para aquellos que viajan a Londres, Ontario.
