Each event is different, even if you set up at the same place, as there are so many unknown factors. It's not just the weather you have to watch out for - as last year in Sanford, FL, lightning struck a pyro setup, setting it all off in one unexpected go - but there's also the people factor to watch out for. As a pyro, someone has to be that sober bad guy that tells wandering drunk people that they cannot light off the explosives, that no, we do not have a lighter, and all the wonderful one-liners we hear each year.

There's mother nature's unexpected critters that can wreak havoc as well, which is why fireworks need to be monitored 24/7 to ensure there's no surprise explosions that result in people getting hurt unintentionally.

With the opening act, JD Pinkus, I felt like a virgin, as it was my first time seeing his banjo bourgeon, fingers focused on the strings like a surgeon. Whenever Corrosion of Conformity is playing, it's a good time indeed, even if the music's loud enough to make your ears bleed, or if you're drinking like a pirate on mead. The new stuff is more than shockingly good, it's showing a side of Pepper that's misunderstood, like how his playing is good enough to give people morning wood. I miss Mike and Reed, but the stand-ins are quite awesomely keyed, and you're going to have a fun time even if you are sitting in the back of the nosebleed.
