Garden State Fireworks may be one of the country's longest standing fireworks manufacturers, but they are also known for putting on some of the best shows. They've exploded at Presidential Inaugurations, done pyro for some of the loudest summer concerts, and have exploded places you can only imagine. Last year, we set up the fireworks for the city of Celebration, FL, which was originally founded by Disney.

Each event is different, even if you set up at the same place, as there are so many unknown factors. It's not just the weather you have to watch out for - as last year in Sanford, FL, lightning struck a pyro setup, setting it all off in one unexpected go - but there's also the people factor to watch out for. As a pyro, someone has to be that sober bad guy that tells wandering drunk people that they cannot light off the explosives, that no, we do not have a lighter, and all the wonderful one-liners we hear each year.

There's the wandering teenagers who just happened to show up on four-wheelers and want to get up close and personal that needs to be warded off. There's the lawn people, joggers, and other curious folks who just want to see what all the fuss is about, and they always have a story about how it's cool for them to be there, when we already know that it's not, so save us the scatterbrained stories. There's mother nature's unexpected critters that can wreak havoc as well, which is why fireworks need to be monitored 24/7 to ensure there's no surprise explosions that result in people getting hurt unintentionally.

While someone like me has to be the mean person to spoil the curiosities of others until the given time, there's also someone like me sweating behind the scenes for days to make sure things go off as planned. Each location requires a different build, whether it's in the middle of the golf course, or in the middle of the Gulf of America. Whether it's building a barge to blow off fireworks in the ocean, or hauling heavy equipment into places where rolling equipment cannot make it, there's a lot going on behind the scenes.
Si bien alguien como yo tiene que asumir el papel de la persona desagradable que frustra la curiosidad de los demás hasta que llega el momento oportuno, también hay alguien como yo trabajando arduamente tras bastidores durante días para asegurar que todo salga según lo planeado.
