For those who have been trying to keep up with the launch of my various film projects this year, I know it's been a challenge. It all started when someone asked about doing a documentary on my books, which inspired the first documentary that became not only about my books, but about doing pyrotechnics. That documentary, "Blow It Up," was an award-winner in a couple film festivals, winning for best women's film and women empowerment, which only spurred a few more projects going up for consideration.

The documentary was a semi-finalist, along with the "Birds of Baseball" script. That particular project, "Birds of Baseball," was selected at a number of film festival, coming in as a semi-finalist and a finalist at various festivals, garnering attention, as it was a children's script written in both English and Spanish. The other script, "Black Market Doctor," has been doing equally as well on the film festival circuit, though it is on the total opposite end of the spectrum being a horror movie tied into "The Murder House" book series.

To further spin off of the series, "Demons Among Us" is the next project being filmed, and though we are close to being done, we had enough footage to use for a few music videos to promote the movie. Though a number of bands expressed interest in wanting to work with us, making it extremely difficult to narrow down the selection of talent, the issue of copyright and original music kept being an issue. As I have been involved in the music industry for a couple of decades now, and I have been known for getting up on stage quite often at the number of concerts I've thrown over the years, it became obvious that making my own original music for the movie would be easier than telling someone what I want.

Teaming up with Joshua Brian Knight, we did a few jam sessions, and I simply tried to tell the storyline that I was trying to portray on the screen with the characters I had. We were not aiming for perfection, as we wanted the music to have a sort of backwoods feel, almost early Americana, very simple and twisted. We recorded the first sessions in his living room with Jacqueline Weathers serving brownies.

Jacqueline later would join us for a few scenes in the movie, being one of the first murder victims. Joshua became a character as well, fitting in with the idea of a couple crazies jamming with a guitar. Their house is where people were filmed jumping off of the roof and doing other stunt scenes.

Various pieces of the movie were filmed prior to Orlando, but at the Fantasm Horror, Paranormal and Burlesque Convention, we filmed the Demonic Dating Game, using volunteers from the audience and putting them on the spot for some raunchy discussions. That scene was released on the film festival circuit last night, and with our performances at the convention with Ras Shomari, we had even more music. Having hours of uncut music, I sorted through to find sections to release as individual songs.

The ones that fit the movie were released first, which is where the titles "Amputation Amongst Friends" and "Zombie Cock Rises" came from, followed by "Where's My Fairytale?" The Rome Music Video Awards almost instantly selected "Zombie Cock Rises," and though it was a finalist at the Elegant International Film Festival, it was disqualified from competitions in Munich and Michigan for having a little too much nudity, which, given the topic of the song, might have been expected, but it's not a porn. There's no penetration, but there is a zombie that's a penis and other such nudity, so it's a bit much.

However, the Munich Music Video Awards did select "Where's My Fairytale?" as a finalist, so apparently, they might be more into romance than horror. Not that the song is a romantic one per say, but it's about as lovey dovey as I am known for. Hopefully, it makes you laugh a little at least.

Brining in Ras for drumming with Josh was definitely a great combination, even if some of the nerds straight up walked out on us in Orlando. My brother, who does a lot of fire breathing in the movie, laughs about how things might not have been so perfect at the convention. Steve Moore, who plays both Dr. Domento and Cuddles in the film, remained optimistic, pointing out that the filming was done, even if it wasn't perfect, and the point was not for it to be perfect, so the footage works regardless.

Things have a way of working out, and when your goal is to be cheesy and comedic in the first place, with enough shock value horror to keep people interested, then it's not about being perfect. You can tell this is not created by AI, so cheesy works. There might be a few eyes rolling with groans from the cheese, peppered in with a few scenes that make you gasp unexpectedly, but that's cheesy shock value.
Las cosas tienen una forma de funcionar, y cuando tu objetivo es ser cursi y cómico en primer lugar, con suficiente horror de valor de choque para mantener a la gente interesada, entonces no se trata de ser perfecto. The true test is what the audience thinks. So far, awards are being handed out, so that must be good. Not claiming that these are earth shattering, but it's that fun stuff to take your mind off of stress worries.
