Of all my music videos so far, this one has been disqualified the most from a variety of film festivals across the world. There’s not even a sex scene, not even a kiss, but there’s enough shock value to get people talking.

As “Black Market Doctor” has not been filmed yet, only written like the book trilogy, even though “Demons Among Us” is the latest installment of the series that started a decade ago, it harkens back to the beginning of what started the quantum physics theoretical places of “The Murder House,” “Valley of Shadows,” and “Valley of Death.” Twisting religious beliefs with quantum physics, it only opens up new possibilities when folklore gets blended. The series as a whole is shocking, not necessarily family-friendly, and this music video is the cherry on top of the entire thing.

The song was created out of necessity to move the movie storyline forward without being overly graphic. We didn’t set out to make a hit of any kind, so much as make background music for the movie scene. It’s not the typical genre that people might expect out of an Ozzfest alumni, but it’s probably as twisted.

When I was living in New Orleans with musician Grant Tom, he had challenged me that when writing hard-core music, shock value was about trying to think of the most disgusting thing possible, or whatever would turn people’s stomach the most. Later, I would stumble across the joke that comedians would tell to each other, an ad lib joke, where they basically try to gross each other out with the craziest things they could think of, giving it a sweet sounding name. There’s a little bit of that type of influence throughout the entire series, and in this music video as well.

One of the first places that Grant and I went to together in New Orleans was to The Saint bar, which had been owned by White Zombie’s Shawna at the time. This was not long after I had been pulled on stage by Rob Zombie and given the chance to tour the country on Ozzfest back in 2002. Thus, it’s a little fitting that my music video should air shortly after an interview with one of Rob‘s Zombie’s most famous movie characters.
